Kai Althoff is a German artist whose work was exhibited at the Vancouver Art Gallery in 2008.  One of his installations, The Weaving Room, involves an interrogation of art as commodity, the role of ‘the artist’, collaborative versus individualistic artistic production, and the relationship between ‘high art’ and ‘craft’.  Cox and Minahan’s article made me think of this work, though Althoff’s work seems emphasize/problematize economic materialism rather than gender issues.
